Some days I wish I could grow a pair...

... and tell some artists to stop drawing huge breasts WITH impossibly thin torsos. Apparently ribs and internal organs are a no-no or something, particularly in comic book heroines/characters. I guess they can pull the style card on that, but it still bothers me something fierce because it's often combined with realistic faces and limbs. Sometimes it's so extreme that their upper bodies look completely dislocated from their lower body. All you'd have to do is give their waist a firm grip and then -SNAP!-!

Not everyone can be Vampira. [link]

There's probably a super hero hospital for paraplegic characters when they get manhandled too hard. I hope your tiara of ultimate truth can fix that, princess. >3>

I'm sure most of you have heard this complaint before. But that's because it's that annoying.

I know how you feeeeel. I have one female character with ginormous breasts but at least i try and make her waist thick so it just looks like she has huge boobs and won't break.
Honestly I just stick with drawin femmy guys to avoid it in case I do that ><

OMG, so many men draw like that! I've been in figure classes before where there was a REALLY strong division between the way the girls and the guys drew the models. You're totally right - they just omit the ribcage and internal organs! It's really disturbing...

In stylized drawings, they can get away with it because you're supposed to exaggerate features but some instances hit the uncanny valley something fierce.

Big breasts don't bug me, on their own. Some anime breasts are insane. It's like inflation art times two. Lawl!

i wish we weren't such a boob culture. bums are so much nicer. :B

That's the thing - these drawings were supposed to be realistic! I do know what you mean, though. I've seen some really lovely pieces, esp in 50s animation with very exaggerated proportions.

No kidding. D:
I sometimes mess up proportions because I am always drawing in ink.. but then I am not going for realism, I am going for movement or a "sketchy" kind of feel. xD

What really bugs me, especially on dA, is not only the boobs-and-no-ribcage issue is the unnatural flexibility some figures have. (Usually anime-style, but sometimes realistic too.) A lot of what I see is a well-endowed woman with an unnatural twist in her back (how is a broken back sexy?) or one with their bums in the air showing off far to many things.. >.>

Which brings me to the topic of dA's Mature Filter - turn it on and I can't see anything or keep it off and don't dare browse galleries randomly or the eyes will bleeeeeeeeeeeed.

*gigglesnort* Your rant reminded me of a short comic done by Jhonen Vasquez poking fun at comic heroes - stick thin, large breasted superheroine: [link]

I can't find the actual comic online... but her spine snaps when she's poked in the forehead and the weight of her breasts crushes her skull. Teen fanboys then drag her corpse into a fan...

I should scan the comic for you, I have it somewhere. Just give the word. :XD:

It isn't the cards you're dealt that matters, it's how you play them.
